Electroville link up with Voluntary Action Leeds.

Voluntary Action Leeds

For the last 11 years Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL), through their CapacITy programme, have serviced the voluntary sector within the city region with all things ICT. Nic and Mark from CapacITy have done a great job providing support and advice and on behalf of all their clients and the sector we would like to extend our thanks to them for all their hard work.

Recent developments at VAL have meant the closure of the CapacITy programme. With Electroville’s close links via the Improving Reach programme and regular workshop delivery at VAL, we are now delivering the ICT support previously covered by CapacITy. As I type (19th June) we are in the process of visiting all ex-CapacITy clients to ensure the smoothest of handovers.

In addition we will now be working closely with VAL to extend the provision of ICT services to the voluntary sector within the Leeds City Council area. This includes access to the hugely popular net:gain and Improving Reach programmes.

If you are a VCO in the Leeds City Council area contact us now to see how we can support you and help you to achieve and save money at the same time.

Training Needs Analysis Survey for Yorkshire and Humber Vol. Sector

Electroville carried out a training needs analysis across the voluntary sector within Yorkshire and Humber. The survey was aimed at establishing

1. Current level of ICT understanding in a number of key areas

2. Current level of training need in these areas

3. The styles of learning most suitable depending on the training needs

4. The possible costs associated with the various styles of learning.

This survey has proved to be very popular with a 20% response rate from the 460+ recipients. It will help to inform the delivery of ICT training across the region for the next couple of years at least.

To get a copy of the survey please register by filling in the form below. You will then be re-directed to the results and report. We will add you to our e-newsletter list from which you can unsubscribe at any time, though it is so popular that we doubt you would ever want to.

Simon Duncan is the new Regional ICT Champion for Yorkshire and Humber

I have taken over the role of Regional ICT Champion for Y&H from Colin Harrison. I have been working with Colin over the last year and am well versed on the voluntary sector and the related ICT needs. Colin has done a fantastic job building up a large network and I would like to extend my appreciation to him. I will now be moving forward on this and responding to the identified needs of the sector, supporting the infrastructure organisations and the sector as a whole.

I am reviewing the workplan for the forthcoming year and will provide updates along the way. I've been adding to the blog where you can find all things ICT related, and the blog posts for the last month are below.

Please contact me if I can be of any assistance. I look forward to working with you over the forthcoming year.

Social media on the non-profit radar but strategy no so clear: report.

This report highlights the use and issues of social media found within the voluntary sector in Massachusetts. Although it is research based in America our experience suggests that it extrapolates very well over to the voluntary sector in the UK.

Get the details of the report here.
