Young Lancashire Website

Young Lancashire is a well-established voluntary organisation that provides support to groups and organisations that work with young people.  Like many organisations that we work with, Young Lancashire had a website that had been originally developed some years ago and looked visually outdated.  This impression was compounded by having a content management system that made the site difficult to update and navigate.

Electroville developed a new site using the Drupal content management system and this addressed both the visual issues by production of a custom Drupal theme and an easy-to-use content management system for publishing news.  Visually the site went for a news-style layout emphasising Young Lancashire's role as a provider of timely and accurate information.  In the background we used Drupal's content construction kit to produce a number of custom content types.

Although it was important for Young Lancashire to present a striking professional image online, the organisation also wanted a 'smart' website that could benefit the organisation in quite specific ways.  In particular, the site uses the Civicrm customer relationship management application to run a membership system, and to power email lists.  The combination of Drupal and Civicrm means that a single site can be used to publish all the content for online newsletters but also to select relevant content and make that available to users as electronic newsletters.  Young Lancashire also uses Civicrm to handle some aspects of events management.
