Leeds Play Network

“When the server went down it was like having your right arm cut off.
You don’t realise how dependent you are on the data you have on your server".

LPN’s work is related to play, play workers and out of school provision.

Their mission is to raise play standards across Leeds through advice and information, training events, some direct work - open access schemes (Streetplay), short break schemes (Play Partners) and leading with events like the National Play Day. They also act as the lead body for grant management on specific schemes, mainly for organisations offering playschemes and childcare.

ICT Issue

One of the management team had responsibility for ICT. When he left, there was no-one to sort out problems when things went wrong. Nicki Turner, General Manager, says that “When the server went down it was like having your right arm cut off. You don’t realise how dependent you are on the data you have on your server.

How was it resolved?

“We had dealt with Electroville before and knew they were reliable. We were impressed with the speed they reacted and sorted it all out very quickly and with the minimum of fuss.

“Their pricing framework also works well for us”.

Next Steps

The equipment is getting a bit long in the tooth now and they are thinking of upgrading. They are also considering how to move forward with the ongoing development of the website.
