The Add a Friend programme consists of:
- 1 Day workshop
- 2 x half day visits to your organisation
- Attendance at a minimum of 1 of the quarterly meetings
- Telephone and email support for 1 year
The Workshop
The aim of this part of the Add a Friend programme is to give participants an understanding of social media and enable them to set up a social media strategy for their organisation. By the end of the day you will:
- Understand the Add a Friend programme as a whole
- Know how key social media tools work and the benefits thereof.
- Identify goals which social media can help you to achieve.
- Identify an approach which will help you to achieve your goals
- Have developed a basic social media strategy.
Each workshop is limited to 10 programme participants so you will receive all the attention and support that you need. You will be expected to take part in small group activities designed to help you to clearly identify your strategy.
The Workshop dates for 2012 are as follows:
- 22nd March - Rotherham
- 18th April - York
- 16th May - Leeds
- 20th June - Huddersfield
- 19th September - York
Please note that these dates and venues are not set in stone and may change according to demand.

The Visits
During the first half day visit to your organisation we will work with you to help you to complete and implement your social media strategy. This will ensure that you have the support that you need to get your strategy underway and to start making a difference. Typically this visit will take place within 4 weeks of the workshop.
The second visit is a bit more fluid and is designed to support you in the ongoing development and implementation of your strategy. This will be very specific to your organisation and we will work with you in the most appropriate way, depending on your needs. Typically this visit will take place around 6 months after the workshop.
Quarterly Meetings
Throughout the programme there will be quarterly meetings providing participants with the opportunity to share what they are doing, to find out what others are doing and to network. The meetings will also present additional information and training on key areas. Each organisation is required to attend at least 1 of the quarterly meetings and is encouraged to come to more.
Support
Each organisation signing up for the programme receives telephone and email support throughout the year. You will get regular emails updating you with relevant news and information and we will be available to help you however we can throughout the year.
Case Studies
Towards the end of your year you will be asked to compile a short case study outlining your achievements as a result of your social media strategy. You will be provided with support and guidance for this.
To apply for the programme please fill out the Add a Friend Application Form.
